With all that’s going on the world today and how people have reacted to a pandemic, we can see what has really been inside of them all along. For those who are reacting in fear, anger, or paranoia, that was already in them. The circumstances just caused that to come out and show itself. They are afraid because there is nothing truly anchoring their souls. That can go for Christians as well who in reality live in unbelief.

I began to read in the book of Hebrews 3-4 about God wanting us to enter his rest. These scriptures also talk about the Israelites and how they had been in rebellion, disobedience, and unbelief so therefore never got to experience God’s rest.

This also translates into how we serve God today. In Hebrews 4 it says,

Now God has offered to us the same promise of entering into his realm of resting in confident faith. So we must be extremely careful to ensure that we all embrace the fullness of that promise and not fail to experience it. For we have heard the good news of deliverance just as they did, yet they didn’t join their faith with the Word. Instead, what they heard didn’t affect them deeply, for they doubted. For those of us who believe, faith activates the promise and we experience the realm of confident rest! For he has said,

“I was grieved with them and made a solemn oath,
‘They will never enter into the calming rest of my Spirit.’ ”

God’s works have all been completed from the foundation of the world, for it says in the Scriptures,

And on the seventh day, God rested from all his works.

And again, as stated before,

They will never enter into my calming place of rest.

Those who first heard the good news of deliverance failed to enter into that realm of faith-rest because of their unbelieving hearts. Yet the fact remains that we still have the opportunity to enter into the faith-rest life and experience the fulfillment of the promise!”

We as believers can actually miss entering God’s rest simply because of unbelief! Unbelief is a sin. Any area we do not have fully surrendered to the Lord is because of unbelief, rebellion, or disobedience.

It doesn’t even have to be anything big. It can be the smallest seed of unbelief in you that is holding you back.

If you find yourself outside of God’s resting place, then there is some sort of delusion or lie that you are living in. It is your job to find out what that lie you believed is.

“They Shall not enter my rest.”

This is why the scriptures say, “There is no rest for the wicked.”

A human can never rest living in disobedience, rebellion, or unbelief.

They will always be striving, working, and doing things in their own might to avoid their fears.

Are any of you in a panic over this virus? Is worry coming to the surface? Do you live in anxiety, depression, fear, unbelief in general?  You are not in God’s rest.

You have not casted your cares upon the Lord.

Matthew 11:28-29 says, “Come to me all who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”

Rest is also deliverance. Where you are not at rest is an indicator of what you need deliverance from.

In the Old Testament there was a physical day of rest, but now in Christ, we can experience rest in our souls every single day by keeping ourselves holy and out of rebellion, disobedience, and unbelief.

Strive to enter God’s rest! Hebrews 4:11

If you find yourself seeing things in yourself or around you that is opposite of God’s word, start becoming diligent in fixing those areas.

Jesus came with the spirit of Grace and Truth.

Truth is reality.

Look at yourself and where you really are in certain areas of your life. God can’t help you if you are hiding or if you can’t see the reality of where you are.

Rest is the goal so we can trust God with every aspect of our lives.

When you enter his rest, you are abiding in Christ.

Just as God rested in his finished work on the 7th day of creation, we rest and celebrate in the finished work of Christ!

“It is finished.”

We don’t need to be saved with anxiety.

We don’t need to be saved with depression.

We don’t need to be saved and in poverty.

We can’t miss out on the fullness of salvation because of our own unbelief!

Seek to live a faith-filled life and resting in the promises of God.

“So then we must give our all and be eager to experience this faith-rest life so that no one falls short by following the same pattern of doubt and unbelief.” Hebrews 4:11 TPT
